Precious Things

Lack of Communication

Once again, we apologize for the lack of updates. That's how we roll I guess.

To catch up on things:
  • We are in the process of closing on our very first purchase of a house. Scary stuff, but we're excited! It has turned into a short sale, kind of uncontrollable on our end really; the seller has filed for bankruptcy and was behind several house payments. Needs some work, but w/ Obama's tax credit, it should all work out :)
Anyways, it's the next big step in our lives... take a look here: http://www.johnlscott.com/propertydetail.aspx?IS=1&ListingID=40007441
  • The last post mentioned news that Brandon had just joined the band Mon Chéri. A lot has happened since then... Many local gigs and a mini Pacific NW tour have kept the band busy since late January. Up next are big plans as the band prepares for their CD release on April 25th. Many photoshoots have taken place over the past couple months; the band's good friend Rajah has graced the band with his presence and talent, check him out: http://idontwrite.com/ & http://www.rajahstudio.com/# . Brandon has enjoyed the company of his band mates and is impressed with everyone's talents, creativity, professionalism, and open minds. Since joining, Brandon has probably learned close to 30 songs, and more are always being written. Stay tuned for much more to come, including the new album!

  • Brandon has just gotten some more film developed from his Holga, which has become a fun (but expensive) hobby

Remember, go here to check out lots of photos ;)

  • The last couple of weeks has also seen visits from Karyn's mother Susan from Michigan, and from her brother Jacob (just in time for her 23rd bday!). We've all had a good time at hockey games, restaurants, the bar, etc. The family time is great as it doesn't get to happen very often :(

Procrastination is our forté!

Hello, this is Karyn here. Guess I have to say we are probably the worst bloggers ever. Indeed. It comes to the point of being embarrassed it's been so long--should we even bother with a new post? Does anyone even look at our page now?

Oh well, in a renewed burst of effort with the new year, I am forging ahead with a new post. And in agreement with Jen, I admire everyone that is a better blogger. :) So much to catch up on that we really can't. The end of 2008 really blew by. I don't think we knew if we were coming or going. Between dog-sitting, the swirl of a lovely record-breaking winter, work (Brandon had to work all the holidays), and many other little busy things here and there....the year was over before we knew it! And did I mention we're in the process of HOUSE HUNTING! Wow, what an exciting and stressful experience. It just seems like there are so many things to consider, and I seem to think everything is ridiculously overpriced in this area. Trying to keep positive and continue looking. I'm hoping the right house is waiting for us just around the bend. Or something like that.

Brandon just joined a new band--very exciting. They are called Mon Chéri. Very good music if I do say so myself. I try not be biased. :) Lucy is doing great. Being her little doggy self. Well, we have been spending some time at the "grandparents" (B's parents) and they had noticed she was dragging her bottom on the carpet sometimes. Yikes! So, we took a Lucy specimen to the vet, and it turned out perfectly normal. So, the only thing Brandon and I have concluded is that Lucy just likes their carpet. We have hard wood floors at home, so it makes sense. Haha! On that note, I think this will be it for now. I've broken the blogger drought anyways! :)

Hang on Little Tomato

We certainly have had a lot going on recently! We just got back from a trip to Seattle last week. We stopped at Leavenworth on the way there. Karyn had never been there before. For those who don't know, it's a little Bavarian themed town nestled in the Mountains. Got one of those neat "old time western" photos taken, had lunch, complete with German beer, and looked around in all the little shops.
In Seattle, we saw Ryan Adam and Oasis in concert. It was a pretty good show. The next day, we went to Ikea. This is pretty much one of the best stores ever, and we sure wish there was one in Spokane! We got alot of nice new furniture and other odds 'n ends.

This weekend, our good friends Josh and Melisa got married. Brandon was one of the groomsmen. It was a beautiful wedding at St. Aloysius Cathedral. We ended the weekend by going to Pig out in the Park. Which is basically a bunch of food vendors throughout the city set up in a park downtown, with bands playing and other stuff to buy. We definitely had lots to eat. Karyn overdid it with the funnel cake. :)

Hopefully we will be able to take it easy the rest of the week (aside from working). It's only been a high of 60's the past few days, with lows in the 40's. Karyn is convinced winter is already here. She's been lighting lots of candles and getting the warm drinks out again.

Brandon has been working hard on his photography. He's been taking lots of good pictures. Go here for more

And Lucy is doing well. We've had her a year yesterday now. Her 2 year birthday is coming up too! (same day as Karyn's brother Jacob)

Lost at Sea

Hmmm, it's been quite awhile, eh?

Well, there's much to catch up on. Soon though :)

Lots of new pictures, new hairstyles, new jobs, etc.

We recently went on vacation back to MI to see family, 'twas great fun.

Sooo, expect some more updates now and then...
in the meantime, here's lots of pictures to keep you occupied: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brandonkaryn Brandon updates this a lot and is starting to be pleased with his photography. Take a gander!

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Unfortunately, we've found out that we're not very good about updating this contraption. Ugh. Please accept our apologies :)

Thanksgiving was good. Leftovers for days... Brandon's parents have taken us to see the Nutcracker and Mannheim Steamroller.

  • So for starters, Karyn got her hair cut and dyed; pretty drastic change, but it looks good, eh?

  • Here's some pictures of Brandon at work

  • Craig's coming to visit from MI on Saturday for a week, and it will be great! We took off a couple days of work here and there so we could make the most of it. Lots of things planned.

  • Hockey - We've been going to some Spokane Chiefs games here and there, and it's pretty awesome. They're at the top of their league right now - on fire, in fact. Going to another on Saturday, with Craig!!

  • Well, not much else has been going on, except work. We're excited for Christmas!
  • Oh! and Brandon is starting a band with some of his friends, which is pretty exciting. He's playing guitar at the moment...

And Lucy likes our heat dish... but not being a reindeer:

PS - this is a good album:

Everything In Its Right Place

So, we're back. Sorry for the delay :) There are some great things going on, that being:
  • New Job - Brandon finally landed a position at local CBS affiliate KREM 2 as a camera operator for the morning news; that means waking up before 3 am, but it's been fun so far. The only thing is that it's part time for now, but it's a start.

  • New Car: -

  • Greenbluff - Two weekends ago, we went to Greenbluff (a community of local farms up north) to pick apples and pumpkins, which was lots of fun, but cold.

  • Pictures from the show (Brandon was asked to fill in and play bass for his friend's band, The Renewing last Friday) -

Stay tuned...

The Continuing Saga of the BK Broiler

Greetings friends and family - we have decided to create this blog thingy to keep everyone updated on the goings-on of our lives together. This is especially beneficial to those who are far away (which are many).

In the last couple months, many things have been happening. We have moved back to Medical Lake, WA, and are renting a house on the lake. We got a wonderful 1 yr. old doggy named Lucy (half Black Lab+half Rottweiler = Labrottie). Karyn got a nice job on the south hill as a charge nurse at the Waterford, and Brandon will be getting a job at KREM 2 studios. (yay) And soon we are getting a new car. Pictures of that coming soon :-)

Brandon will be flying to Maine on Thursday to be a part of his grandmother's funeral. She passed away at the end of September after many complications involved with diabetes. He will be playing an original piece on guitar for the service.

On a lighter note, we went to the first Spokane Chiefs home hockey game on Saturday night, where we were ready to rumble. However, they lost in a shootout after a close and exciting game.

More to come soon!

Au revoir - Brandon & Karyn ♥
